Moodle: Topics format

Introduction

The course is organised into topic sections that a teacher can give titles to. Each topic section consists of activities, resources and labels.

This is great to use if your course is objective based and each objective may take different amounts of time to complete. An example of this would be scaffolding where the students are building upon the knowledge from earlier topics.

Set up

1.Click Open course menu > Settings

3.Select Topics format from the dropdown

2.Expand Course format

4.Hidden sections – Whether hidden sections are displayed to students as not available (perhaps for a course in weekly format to indicate holidays) or are completely hidden.

5.Course layout – This setting determines whether the whole course is displayed on one page or split over several pages.

4.Click the Save and display button
