This three-activity design enables students to achieve a basic understanding of new knowledge in advance of a synchronous session. Through this design, students’ understanding can be checked, reinforced and developed through application, discussion and reflection activities.

Duration:

3 hours over 5 to 6 days

Learning outcomes:

  • Explain the concept
  • Apply the concept in practice

Activity 1: Orientation

Activity steps:

  1. Students watch a short video of the tutor explaining a key concept, then respond to a set of questions to test their understanding
  2. The tutor uses the responses to assess the extent of students’ understanding to prepare for the next activity.
