Moodle: Choice

Overview

Choice creates an activity for students that offers a simple range of options to be selected from. Options can be defined, and the behaviour of the choice can be changed between single and multiple options.  

Adding choice to Moodle 

  • Switch Edit mode on 
  • Click Add activity or resource 
  • Select Choice

  • Enter a Name and optional Description 
  • Under Options
    • Set how you’d like the Choice activity to behave. Additional settings allow limiting Option response numbers. 
    • Add your Option details
  • Under Availability, set the date range for responses to be accepted 
  • Under Results set the behaviour for displaying results to students 
  • Click Save and display

Using Choice 

The Choice activity window will display available options, plus a breakdown of user responses.

To manage responses: 

  • Open the Choice activity 
  • Click Open course menu, then Responses 
  • Select tick boxes for a Choice option, individual user, or click Select all for a list of additional actions. Users can be moved between options, or have their response deleted. 
  • Responses can also be exported using the download options in this view
